In 1993 a group of scientists from Great Britain and Germany came together to found the GEO600 Interferometric Gravitational Wave Detector project. Six years later we see that the hardware is coming together and the first suspended cavities are locked.  This contribution will give an overview on the current status of the  GEO600 detector and it's subsystems.
