Stabilized laser for TAMA300

Shigeo Nagano and the TAMA Collaboration

We have developed a light source for a 300-m Fabry-Perot type laser interferometer for gravitational wave detection (TAMA300). The light source is consist of a 10-W injection-locked Nd:YAG laser with a 10-m ring type mode-cleaner. The transmitted laser power through the 10-m mode-cleaner is at least 3W and the transmittance is 54% when the input laser power is 6.5W. The laser intensity noise is highly stabilized and the laser frequency noise is pre-stabilized with the 10-m MC as a frequency reference to overcome the excess noise of the laser beam coming out from the mode cleaner. The pre-stabilized laser is stabilized with the 300m Fabry-Perot cavity to satisfy the requirement of the frequency noise for TAMA300. We have completed the stabilized light source which has high power, purely TEM00 and single frequency for gravitational wave detector.
