Progress in development of some techniques relating to test-mass suspension and to the extension of operation of interferometers to low frequencies

Progress will be reported in work on magnetic levitation of test masses, including measurements of mechanical Q in magnetically levitated paramagnetic crystals, and possible applications. Work on some concepts for extending operation of laser interferometers to low frequencies where gravity gradient noise can be important will be outlined, including techniques for improving rejection of ground noise at extreme low frequencies.
