Guidelines for Joint Research Using TAMA data

This document sets out the guidelines for TAMA data analysis through joint research. It describes how to start joint research with scientists who are not TAMA group members.

The TAMA Steering Committee would announce a data list which is open for use in joint research.

TAMA data consist of the following data sets:

If a scientist, who is not a TAMA group member, wants to analyze TAMA data, he/she should follow the procedure in items (1) and (2) below. When the application is approved, TAMA data can be analyzed for restricted purpose, subject to items (3) and (4).

    (1) A scientist, who wants to analyze TAMA data, should submit a proposal to the principal investigator. The proposal should contain the subject, purpose and expected outcomes of the proposed research, current status of the study, the name and contact address of principal investigator, and a list of collaborators. (A template of the application form can be used.) It will be discussed and judged at the TAMA Steering Committee. If the joint research is judged valuable for the TAMA project, the Committee will nominate the TAMA collaborator(s). If not judged valuable, it may be rejected.

    (2) After approving the proposal, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) concerning the joint research will be drafted by the TAMA collaborators and the joint researcher(s). When both the applicant(s) and the principal investigator of TAMA agree to the MOU, the joint research will start.

    (3) In the joint research, any analysis or corresponding treatment of the data is limited to that described in the MOU.

    (4) Any kind of publication of articles or presentation at conferences, arising out of the joint collaboration, shall be done jointly in the name of both the applicants and the TAMA collaborators. The validity of the contents shall be discussed jointly and both parties should come to a mutual agreement.
